Ground Zero Rescue Opens Shelter For Women And Children Ground Zero Rescue is pleased to announce the opening of a shelter designed to serve the needs of women and children who find themselves in distressful circumstances with nowhere to turn. This shelter is located in Coffee County, and we have named the shelter Ground Zero Rescue Women's & Children's Center. You may help us in many ways to provide food, clothing, and help us financially to assist some of society's most needy individuals. Ground Zero Rescue & The Ark Co-Sponsor Fundraiser To Benefit The Homeless On May 11, 2010, Ground Zero Rescue partnered with The Ark in Dothan to sponsor a pancake dinner with all proceeds going to both organizations that we may continue the work of serving the homeless in the "wiregrass area" of southeast Alabama. A big thanks to the Cloverdale Baptist Church in Dothan for the use of its facilities to hold this event, featuring special guest, Judge Roy Moore. Below are photos capturing some of the highlights of the evening. Thank you to all who joined us and donated to this worthy cause! Ground Zero & The Ark Partner in Pancake Dinner Fundraiser Featuring Judge Roy Moore As Guest Speaker On May 11, 2010, Ground Zero Rescue & The Ark will be holding a pancake dinner at the Cloverdale Baptist Church located at 806 Dexter Street in Dothan, Alabama. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m., and all proceeds will go to serve the homeless in the "wiregrass area." Homeless Shelter Honors Six Graduating Residents Ground Zero Rescue, a tri-county homeless shelter, kicked off a celebration service on Saturday, May 22, 2009, in honor of six shelter residents who successfully completed the 90-day restoration course program. A cook out featured guest speakers, live music by the Ground Zero Band, food for shelter residents and community attendees. Each of these six graduates received official certificates of first level course completion. Pastor Mary Shelnutt, founder of Ground Zero Rescue, stated, "I am so proud of our six residents who completed our 90-day restoration course. They are now one step closer to entering the path of independent living which is our goal for all residents of the shelter." Ground Zero Rescue provides crisis and long-term housing, food and clothing, counseling, education and transition to work programs for the homeless. One of the mission's many goals is to rescue and restore the homeless to independent lives within the community. |

Ground Zero Rescue Mission Opens Thrift Store August 13, 2009......Ground Zero Rescue Missions announced today the opening of its first thrift store to serve those needing bargains and to fund its three homeless shelters. The thrift store is located at 383 Geneva Highway in Enterprise, Alabama and donations of household items, clothing and other products will be accepted at this location. The thrift shop hours are 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Wednesday through Friday. You may drop any of your donated items Monday through Saturday, and our staff checks the shop daily and will bring your donated items inside the thrift shop. Pastor Mary Shelnutt, founder of Ground Zero Rescue, stated, "I am very excited about the opening of our thrift shop on Geneva Highway in Enterprise, Alabama which will serve two purposes. Not only will the thrift store assist those less fortunate to purchase necessary items at bargains, it will also serve as a source of revenue to fund our homeless in southeast Alabama. We are so grateful to all of those who have already donated goods to help us open the thrift store. We plan to accept donated goods at this location going forward." Ground Zero Rescue provides crisis and long-term housing, food and clothing, restoration classes, education and transition to work programs for the homeless.
